When Don Waldon retired in 2005 after 21 years as Administrator of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway Development Authority, Bob Dawson was honored to welcome him to Dawson & Associates.  It was an easy decision for him: Under Don’s leadership at the Tenn-Tom Authority, the organization significantly improved the economic well-being and quality of life in the four-state region and the nation.

Recently, the Authority held a ceremony for Don at the Aberdeen Lock and Dam – which will ultimately be the “Donald G. Waldon Lock and Dam” in honor of his decades of service.

I was honored to represent Dawson & Associates at this event and spoke to the roughly 200 in attendance.  For a copy of my remarks about my longtime friend and colleague, please click here.

Throughout his public service, Don worked tirelessly to promote economic development and waterway transportation. His colleagues chose him to lead several waterway trade associations, including the Water Resources Congress and the National Waterways Conference.

On his retirement in 2005, he was awarded the U.S. Department of the Army’s Outstanding Civilian Service Medal and received the prestigious Silver Order of the de Fleury Medal from the Army Corps of Engineers for his leadership and support of the nation’s waterway transportation system.

Congratulations, Don!

Maj. Gen. (Ret) Robert Griffin Senior Advisor

A member of the Dawson team since 2014, Robert Griffin served as Deputy Commanding General for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 2003 to 2005.
