Former Corps of Engineers Buffalo, Huntsville Commander joins Dawson

Dawson & Associates is pleased to announce that Col. (Ret) John Hurley, former District Engineer and Commander in the US Army Corps of Engineers, has joined our firm. John is the 19th Corps of Engineers Commander to join Dawson.
John will be a part of Dawson & Associates’ practice areas on environmental permitting, ecosystems restoration, river restoration and federal contracting.
A West Point graduate who spent 30 years in the US Army, primarily the Army Corps of Engineers, John commanded the Buffalo and Japan Districts as well as the Huntsville Center. In these roles, he supervised numerous high-visibility regulatory permitting projects including High Acres (NY) Landfill Western Expansion, the Empire (NY) Natural Gas Connector Project and multiple windfarms.
John was also Deputy Commander of the USACE Transatlantic Division and spent two years in the office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Civil Works), first as the Military Assistant and later as the Executive Officer. During his tenure, the Civil Works program received and executed and additional $4.6 billion as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) in 2009.
