D&A Senior Advisor Peter Arnold
Peter Arnold, a former White House speechwriter and Capitol Hill staffer who has run several major lobbying coalitions for the telecommunications and high-tech industries, has joined Dawson & Associates as a Senior Advisor, the firm announced today.
Founded in 1997, Dawson & Associates is the nation’s premier government relations and public affairs firm for defense, transportation, water and natural resource environmental permitting. The company’s team includes more than 10 former Flag officers.
“I first worked with Peter Arnold in the early 1990s and even back then, I was impressed at the energy and creativity he brought to his client work,” said Robert Dawson, president and founder of Dawson & Associates. “He’s the ideal person to help us fulfill the communications and public affairs services our clients increasingly require.”
During the past decade, Arnold has served as executive director for nationwide lobbying coalitions representing the cable TV industry, telephone companies and high-speed Internet providers. Through grassroots mobilization, advertising and aggressive media strategies, his coalitions were instrumental in stopping federal and state broadband regulations, as well as rolling back state-imposed access charges on telephone connections.
He has also served as a consultant in Microsoft’s General Counsel’s office and since 1995, has been a consultant to the National Structured Settlements Trade Association.
From 1986 to 1989, he was a speechwriter for then-Vice President George Bush and from 1989 to 1991, he was the press secretary for U.S. Rep. Bob Livingston.
He is a graduate of Dartmouth College.
