Mike Long, former CEO of Indiana’s Bureau of Mine Reclamation, joins Dawson

D&A is pleased to welcome Mike Long as its newest Senior Advisor.


Dawson & Associates is honored to announce that Mike Long, whose career includes more than 30 years experience in energy and mining permitting and compliance, has joined our firm as a senior advisor.

As CEO of the Indiana Bureau of Mine Reclamation, Mike oversaw the State’s reclamation operations, oil and gas environmental regulations and geological survey.


Mike’s success in Indiana brought him to Colorado, where he spent 10 years as Director of the State’s Minerals and Geology Division. From 1992 to 2002, Mike was responsible for planning and administration involving permitting, inspection and enforcement of State mining activity.


In 2002, Mike began a successful 15-year career at Shell Oil Company, primarily working on regulatory analysis and advocacy for Shell’s North American business units.


Mike has also served as Co-Chairman of the Western Governors’ Association’s Mine Waste Task Force.
