Former Commander Army Corps of Engineers’ Portland District Joins Dawson

D&A welcomes Senior Advisor Col. (Ret) Eisenhauer.


It is a great honor for us to announce that Col. (Ret) John W. Eisenhauer, P.E., the 59th Commander and District Engineer of the Army Corps of Engineers Portland District, has joined our firm as a Senior Advisor.


John brings valuable expertise on a variety of environmental and water issues, particularly as they affect the Pacific Northwest.  These issues include flood damage reduction, ecosystem restoration, hydropower production, navigation, and coastal dredging.


John managed the Portland District’s vast Civil Works program totaling more than $450 million annually, with more than one third of the Corps of Engineers’ capital assets.  This involved permitting, ecosystem restoration, recreation, commercial navigation, flood damage reduction, hydropower production, and disaster assistance.


John previously served as Commander of the Army’s 37th Engineer Battalion and Commander of an engineer unit within 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta.


He is a Professional Engineer (Virginia) and a Life Member of the Society of American Military Engineers.


John graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and has a graduate degree from Stanford.  He is also a graduate of the Army Force Management School.
