Former Commanding General Joins Dawson & Associates

Founded in 1997, Dawson & Associates is the nation’s premier government relations and public affairs firm for defense, transportation, water and natural resource environmental permitting. The company’s team includes more than 10 former Flag officers.


In 1994, Gen. Scott became the youngest Army General in more than 25 years. In 1997, he became the Army’s youngest Major General.


His service includes commanding operations in Central Europe and across the U.S. While a Brigadier General, he served for two years as Commanding General, South Pacific Division, having responsibility for all military construction and civil works in the western United States.


As a Brigadier General, he served as Deputy Director (Strategy, Plans and Policy) for the Army’s Quadrennial Defense Review team, with responsibility for the formulation of long-term strategy, force structure, and long-range planning.


After retiring from active duty service, Gen. Scott spent nine years as a Vice President at ITT Defense, leading the company’s international marketing and business development section. He oversaw a nearly 900 percent growth in the value of ITT’s international orders.


Gen. Scott has a Master of Public Administration from Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and a Master’s Equivalent in Economics (done in German) from the University of Freiburg in Germany. He is also a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he graduated in the top five percent of his class.
