With an extensive background in Federal and state water policy, Matt provides organizations with a range of solutions to complex challenges involving the Safe Drinking Water Act and the Clean Water Act.  

Matt has served as president of North Carolina and Tennessee for a private drinking water and wastewater utility.  Additionally, he served as the Executive Director of Indianapolis Water where he led the turnaround and eventual sale of the State of Indiana’s largest drinking water utility.  

 

Matt’s career as a public servant includes service as a senior environmental regulator for the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and a senior utilities regulator the Indiana Office of the Utility Consumer Counselor.  Additionally, he has practiced environmental law and represented clients in matters pertaining to the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, and the Clean Water Act.

 

Currently, Matt is pursuing a doctorate in strategic leadership at Regent University and serves as the host of the Water Foresight Podcast, which examines the future of water through political, legal and environmental lenses.

 

Matt is a graduate of Leadership North Carolina and is recipient of the 2018 Exceptional Service Award from the Management & Leadership Division of the American Water Works Association. He is a member of the American Water Works Association, Water Environment Federation, the Association of Professional Futurists, and the American Bar Association.
