LIEUTENANT GENERAL ARTHUR
(ART) E. WILLIAMS, P.E.
Lieutenant General Arthur (Art) E. Williams, U.S. Army (Retired) is a Senior Advisor with extensive engineering, construction, environmental, and contracting experience. He served in the U.S. Army for 34 years and was the Commanding General and the 48th Chief of Engineers of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1992-1996. Other significant Corps of Engineers assignments included Director of Civil Works in the Corps Headquarters and Division Engineer for the Lower Mississippi River Division and the Pacific Ocean Division. He also served as President of the Mississippi River Commission. He was formerly a member of the Board of Directors for the Dames and Moore Group. He was previously National President of the Society of American Military Engineers.
General Williams holds a BS degree in mathematics from St. Lawrence University, a BS degree in Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a Masters degree in Civil Engineering and Economic Planning from Stanford University, and an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Engineering from Rensselaer. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Minnesota.
In 1996, he retired to Fort Myers, Florida, and started classes in watercolor painting, following his other lifelong dream. He has continued to enhance his artistic talents by painting with a variety of established artists. He now sells his art through the Herons Nest Restaurant, Herons Glen Golf and Country Club, N. Fort Myers, and has become, after selling dozens of paintings, one of those "established artists."
