 Biography

Former Congressman Ralph Regula of Ohio joined Dawson & Associates in 2010, bringing unparalleled understanding of federal environmental, land and Interior Department policies.  A strong environmentalist, Rep. Regula was known for his moderate stances on environmental issues, which earned bipartisan respect.

First elected in 1972, Rep. Regula served in Congress for 36 years.  For nearly his entire career, he was a member of the House Appropriations Committee, the powerful committee responsible for determining spending priorities for every aspect of the government.  In 1995, he became chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on the Interior.  For the next six years, he oversaw spending levels for every federal program at Interior and established himself as one of Congress’ most knowledgeable leaders in this area.

From 2001 to 2007, he served as chair of the Labor, Health & Human Services and Education Subcommittee, which allowed him to oversee federal spending in such areas as Medicare and Medicaid, workforce training, and the No Child Left Behind Act.

Mr. Regula had a crucial role in securing federal funding for the historic redevelopment of the Ohio and Erie Canalway and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.  He also oversaw significant funding increases for improvements in the national park system.

Chairman Regula is a graduate of Mount Union College in Ohio and the William McKinley School of Law.
