Water Over the Dam

August 5, 2005 - Bob Dawson and General Hans Van Winkle (Ret.) performed their song “Water over the Dam” in honor of General Robert Griffin at the luncheon following his retirement Ceremony in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Gen. Van Winkle wrote the music and Mr. Dawson wrote the lyrics of the song as an expression of their respect for Gen. Griffin’s selfless and highly effective service as a soldier and a leader.

Gen. Griffin, retired as Deputy Commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and is now working for a major engineering firm in Atlanta, Georgia.  Gen. Van Winkle, an associate of D&A living in Austin, Texas, performed in a rock and roll band while at West Point.  Mr. Dawson spent several decades performing with a country gospel group in the Washington, D.C. area.
