WASHINGTON, DC - To meet a growing public need, The Jack Parker Corporation designed a moderately priced housing development to build in Fort Myers, FL. Despite carefully selecting a location with minimal wetlands impact, they found themselves embroiled in a dispute with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Facing a protracted dispute that could doom the project, The Jack Parker Corporation called on Dawson & Associates.
Dawson & Associates assembled an experienced team to assist The Jack Parker Corporation with the permit process. Dawson's experts advised them on the key environmental, regulatory, and political issues. Working with their staff, Dawson & Associates crafted a strategic plan to address these requirements and obtain the necessary permits. Using their extensive network of contacts, Dawson's team identified the key decision makers and developed solutions to settle the disagreements. It was Dawson's ability get the message through that made the difference.
The resolution of the permit issue clears the way for development of an environmentally-friendly, economically advantageous housing project.
In a letter praising the Dawson team, John Reisman, President of the Jack Parker Corporation, said, "It became apparent to me that by adhering to sound science and environmental standards, using your insight into the workings of each of the regulatory frameworks, and by being able to go through the decisionmakers.you made this project possible." Michael Strachn, Senior Vice President at Dawson & Associates, echoed those sentiments, "Working with a quality client like the Jack Parker Corporation was a privilege. Together, we were able to combine the advantages of a solid project, a responsible corporate citizen and the unique capabilities of Dawson & Associates to reach a successful conclusion."
The Fort Myers community will reap immense economic benefits from the housing project. In addition to generating $1 million dollars in annual city tax revenues, it will also create much-needed jobs. The newly constructed water system will not only provide more reliable water, but decrease pollutants and offer greater water pressure for firefighting.
The Jack Parker Corporation is also taking exceptional steps to preserve and enhance the wetlands. The project will protect 70% of the wetlands, including restoration of the highest quality areas. As such, there were will be no net loss of wetlands functions, and over 1/3 of the site will be preserved for wildlife habitat. Strachn noted," The Corps of Engineers and other regulatory agencies did their part to assure that the final outcome was reasonable from every perspective."
The Jack Parker Corporation will significantly upgrade the environmental conditions through a series of initiatives, including quadrupling of the upland buffers and building an environmentally-sensitive bridge. The project also provides legal and financial protection from future exotic infestation.
The project simply would not have been possible without the focused effort of Dawson & Associates, a firm with a track record for producing results. Reisman added, "[Dawson & Associates] found an environmentally beneficial path through the maze of issues and delivered the necessary permits on time and as promised."
