Honorable Robert K. Dawson joins the
Board of Directors of Friends of New Orleans.

As a member of the Board of Friends of New Orleans, Bob Dawson brings  his technical and substantive policy perspective to an illustrious group of individuals dedicated to supporting the rebuilding of New Orleans and surrounding parishes.  Friends of New Orleans is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that provides a vehicle for people in the U.S. and abroad who care about this region to declare their support and get involved.

Their mission is to:

  • Advocate for New Orleans and its surrounding parishes;
  • Inform people of those key issues that are shaping the national debate and decision making of the rebuilding effort;
  • Link individuals who want to help with the communities in the devastated areas;
  • Motivate people to take part in the rebuilding effort by a) declaring their support for New Orleans and its surrounding parishes; b) donating money; c) volunteering; d) visiting and investing in the area; and e) partnering with communities and local organizations that are doing the work.

Board members include James Carville; authors John Barry and Mike Tidwell; Tommy G. Thompson, former Governor of Wisconsin; Richard Moe, President of the National Trust for Historic Preservation; Rev. Kevin Wm. Wilder, S.J., President of Loyola University and Walter Isaacson, President of the Aspen Institute.

Mr. Dawson attended Tulane University in New Orleans where he met and married his wife, a Louisiana native.  His commitment of support to rebuilding the area is personal and deep.
